The pig was creating havoc in the country and the condition of our good old Pune was the worst. After a lot of speculations, sad faces, batch pleadings and sleepless nights, UKC Sir informed the whole PG Batch one fine evening about the “Non-Instructional (mind-my-words) Days”. He said that we can go back to our hometowns, stay at our friend’s place or just stay back on campus. I gaped like a frog blankly for two seconds flat, inhaling heavily through my green-swine-full-protection-mask, and then broke into a jig! Everywhere people were seen jumping, hugging each other, talking urgently over their phones. Suddenly Comp Lab turned out to be the most sought after place on campus and everyone was seen rushing there (No, last minute Photoshop assignment mind you. “Make-My-Trip” was minting money like anything!)
It was too random. Too fast. Dad asked me to go to Hyderabad and stay at my uncle’s place with my cousins. I did not want to. I ditched my Hyderabadi peers at the last minute. As they bed me goodbye and the bus sped off, I still did not know what to do.
My room mate packed her bags in a lightening speed and left in a jiffy, taking the next bus to the city.
“You must go to Calcutta June. Dunno why you are even thinking about Hyederabad!!”, is what she said before leaving.
It was followed by all my other friends waving me goodbye and pushing off, one after the other. I was still confused about what to do.
It was a beautiful, lazy evening and we were the only one’s who were not rushing. Unpacked luggage remained scattered in the floors of my empty hostel room. As we sat beside the poolside watching people go, we were still unsure of what to do.
Punkprincess: So you leaving for Bombay tomorrow, eh? (I asked without looking at him)
Cheapomawali: Hmm.. and you leaving for Hyderabad today?
Punkprincess: Yes. No. Yes. No. Actually, No I am not going. I don’t want to.
Cheapomawali: ??!!?! Does your Dad know that you are Not going to Hyderabad today?
Punkprincess: Not yet.
Cheapomawali: what the,f***,..??! *sigh*
Punkprincess: Ok why don’t we go to Bombay today? (This I said in a very nonchalant manner, making sure that I don't meet his eyes)
It was too random. Taking the last bus from campus and going to the city, not getting a Volvo Bus and finally traveling all night in a Safari with six-seven odd mask-clad-men, getting cramped to death.
I spent only one day in Bombay with my friend’s family. But sadly all parents are the same. They panick a lot about everything, His parent’s were worried about the pig getting the better of us. Your guess is as good as mine. We actually stayed shut in the house which made me later ponder that maybe staying back on campus for a day would have been a better idea than coming to Bombay.
I took next day’s flight back home. Good Old Calcutta. [[Hang on! I must mention here that on my way to the airport, I DID visit Juhu Beach and I did have panipuri, coconut water and dahi puri, and I did shop a bit too. So basically my one-day-random-bombay-trip wasn’t so bad afterall. And in anycase I got to eat homemade food cooked by his mum..which obviously was more than just ‘Yum’!]]
Once back home, all I have done till now is laze, eat non-veg food, laze, surf the internet, check mails, listen to songs, laze, watch movies, laze, miss campus, sleep, whine, chat, laze, write, think about assignments, yap, laze.. yeah am still lazing even while writing this article, whatever. Right now I got to know about the extension of holidays and all I can think of doing is:
Your guess is as good as mine!
